A Podcast Playlist to Take With You on Your End-of-Summer Adventures
Hey there readers!
We are undoubtedly approaching the end of summer, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t time left for those adventures you’ve been dreaming about but procrastinating the planning of. Take advantage of this warm weather by going on that road trip, spending a day at the beach, or gathering around the campfire with a cold drink and your best friends.
I’ve curated a playlist that’ll go well with whatever adventure that you end up choosing today. Whether you’ll be in the car for a while or you need some company during you star-gazing/ camping activities, I’ve got you covered. Without further ado, here’s some episodes to add to your lineup.
Outside Podcast: Science of Survival: Drinking Yourself to Death
Outside has been around for a while now, and they’re known for being inspirational and informative by bringing story time to life through audio. Science of Survival is one of my favorites of the different series that they create. If you have a curious mind and have ever wondered what the human body experiences during harrowing life experiences, then you’ll enjoy the episode I’ve selected from this series about the over consumption of water. Didn’t think you could overdose on good, old H2O? Think again. This super-interesting episode will cause you to question how you’re hydrating your body on these hot, sunny days.
Wine & Crime: Faking One’s Own Death
If you have a couple of hours in the car traveling to your next summer bucket list hot spot, tune in to this fun episode of Wine & Crime. This episode features a short interview with Elizabeth Greenwood, author of Playing Dead: A Journey Through the World of Death Fraud. The gals discuss ways in which people attempt to start their lives over with new identities and cases with varying degrees of success in those escape plans. If you’ve never listened to Wine & Crime before, buckle up, because you’re in for a ride that will horrify you, make you laugh, and learn TMI about the hosts, which is pretty entertaining.
How Did This Get Made: Grease 2
Have you ever gotten together with your friends for the sole purpose of making fun of bad movies? That sums up this comedy podcast pretty well, where Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas gather around the microphone with their friends and discuss their thoughts on less-than-Oscar-worthy films. The gang heads to actress Anna Faris’s home, where they chat about the Grease 2 romantic musical comedy. Key takeaways from this episode include teenage identity and obsession, sexuality, and June’s infallible love for both Grease movies. I love the back and forth between the hosts, and it’s just a fun listen every time I tune into this podcast.
Every Little Thing: Are You Living With a Psychopath?
If you’ve ever had a really random question that you could ask someone who could research and deliver a solid answer for you, well, my friends, there’s a podcast for that, and it’s called Every Little Thing. Caller Megan wonders whether or not her roommate is a psychopath — something I’m sure a lot of us out there have wondered ourselves. Spoiler alert: her roommate is a cat. During this episode, you’ll learn about things cats have in common with psychopaths (like an inflated sense of self, for example), and if Pushkin fits points on the checklist classifying him as such. I have a curious mind and am always looking for podcasts where I can learn new things, but this one is a different level of quirkiness, and I really enjoyed the lighthearted vibe of this episode.
That’s it for now, friends! Head on out into the world and bring these awesome podcasts with you. Let me know what you think by commenting below, or come find me on social media if you want to chat about what your favorite podcasts are.
